Good Neighbor Day- Wednesday, September 1st

Art In Bloom wants to spread kindness and friendship and meet some new people in the process. Stop by the floral and art boutique located at 409 W. Main St. in downtown Brighton to pick up a package of beautiful red roses…For Free! The catch? Help us brighten the day of others by keeping one perfect rose for yourself and then giving the rest of the bouquet away, stem-by-stem. Our hope is to encourage neighbors to meet someone new or tell someone they already know how special they are. Are you in?

Studio Art Classes…starting soon!

A big “Thank You” to all who have expressed interest in my studio art classes. The first six-week session for children, teens and adults starts in mid-September. Please find the link to the “Studio Art Classes” page on the right side of the Art In Bloom home screen and choose your level of interest. The next session will begin in January with a few one-day workshops in-between these sessions. Give me a call at 810-227-9500 or send an email to artinbloomstudio@gmail.com to register. I look forward to creating with you!

Brighton Fine Arts Festival 2010

Don’t miss this annual event in downtown Brighton! The Fine Arts Festival includes the artwork of nearly 100 artists in a wide variety of media, entertainment, wonderful food and a great opportunity to explore the shops and restaurants along Main Street.

Art In Bloom will have extended hours this weekend to coincide with the festival: Saturday, August 14th 10am-6pm and Sunday, August 15th 10am-4pm.

Stop by to check out Jon Cooney’s art exhibit and to see a sneak preview of the next featured artist whose work will be on display in the Art In Bloom gallery space. There will also be some great specials on fresh flowers and a $25 gift certificate for the gallery boutique will be given away at the main stage during the weekend event.

Lemons and Artichokes

This past weekend, an order was placed for fresh floral arrangements to decorate a very special dinner party. When the innovative customer requested lemons and artichokes as the focal point for the arrangements, I was ecstatic and recall saying something like, “I love you!” 🙂 I added soft muted colors and lots of lush greenery to accent the produce and to keep a light and airy look. I would like to express thanks to that wonderful customer for patronizing Art In Bloom and for affording me the creative license to assist her with this special occasion.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Today is my Dad’s 76th birthday so Alec and I thought it might be nice to make him a gift here at Art In Bloom. I will admit that I supplied the idea…a faux cake created with floral foam and fresh flowers…but honestly, Alec did all the work. He chose the most colorful flowers from the cooler, used his newly acquired cutting skills, and designed a very creative birthday cake that I am absolutely certain his Grandpa will love.
