Designing like a Dutch Master

I’m conducting a workshop next week and would love it if you could join me! Combine some of the freshest spring blooms with your own container and create a floral masterpiece along the lines of the Dutch still life paintings of the 15th and 16th Centuries. You’ll even learn a bit of art history. 🙂

Where: Hamburg Township Library

When: Thursday, April 7th 11am-1pm

What: A floral design workshop for all skill levels. Amidst the fragrance of fresh flowers, learn some design tips and techniques and come away with a gorgeous arrangement.

Cost: $6.00 /person includes fresh flowers, floral foam and instructions.

Bring: Your own waterproof container (a ceramic urn, terra cotta pot with liner, glass vase, or basket) and a pair of pruners.

*This is a “Lunch & Learn Session” so feel free to bring along a snack or brown bag lunch.

June is just around the corner…

I know it still feels like winter but summer will be here before we know it! Parents and kids will be looking for creative ways to fill those three months of freedom and warm weather.

Art In Bloom Summer Art Camps are weekly themed studio classes running for a total of seven weeks this summer. Take a look at the brochure and if one (or more) of the sessions interests your young artist, give me a call or send an email to request a registration packet. I plan to keep the class sizes to a minimum of ten students so advance registration is highly suggested.

“Three Olives and a Pickle”

Artist, Nancy Legault, has aptly named her organic pottery line, “Three Olives and a Pickle.” With whimsy, a botanical theme and fresh produce such as peas in a pod and asparagus as inspiration, the hand-built ceramics have been a popular seller at the Art In Bloom boutique since August 2010. I’m especially impressed with the custom glazes that Nancy creates and the interesting effects produced.

We have expanded our collection of Nancy’s artwork and will feature her through April 2nd with an opening reception on Saturday, March 26th from 5-7pm.
