Congratulations Carly and Matt!

It was my absolute pleasure to design the floral arrangements for the recent wedding of a young local couple, Carly and Matt. The big day was Saturday, June 11th. Carly and her mother were, in fact, the first customers to approach me in regards to wedding flowers as I was just getting the business rolling late last summer. The color scheme that Carly selected is fresh, vibrant and very summer-y. Here’s a look at some of the flowers used. More photos of the wedding and the happy couple will be posted soon.

Author and Battle Creek resident, Loreen Niewenhuis will be visiting Art In Bloom this month to promote her book, A 1000~Mile Walk on the Beach.  Loreen trekked her way around Lake Michigan, keeping the lake at her left and staying on the beach as much as possible. Her journey began in Chicago at Navy Pier on a unusually warm March morning in 2009 and ended 1000 miles later when she returned to the pier to the cheering of family and friends. “The book explores both the geology of the lake and the measure of a person-a woman, married, mother of two sons (who joined her for portions of the walk). But most of the walk was done solo, an adventure in discovery of self and place.”

It is because of Loreen’s supportive sister, Leslie, a Brighton resident, that Art In Bloom is hosting this event. (Thanks, Leslie! I’m so glad you found my shop.) During the book tour, Loreen has sought out independent book stores and small boutiques to promote her book and celebrate her adventure.

Please join us on Friday, June 17th for refreshments and a chance to meet this inspirational woman!
