We’ve booked our first birthday party!

Art In Bloom will be filled with creative energy and giggles in late January when I host a birthday party for soon-to-be seven year old, Kate. About a month ago, Kate and her mom provided a short list of topics that would be of interest to them and I came up with a quote containing three different themed studio sessions. They have selected a Picasso animal sculpture activity that will entail taking a favorite animal, twisting and rearranging the features Picasso-style, and working with ink, oil pastels, yarn, beads and more on heavy weight card stock to create the animal’s portrait in Cubism. Here is a great book that I always love to introduce with this activity: “When Pigasso Met Mootisse.” Look for more photos to come of Kate’s party!

I love, love, LOVE this book! Have a great time at the party. It will be great! (By the way, have you read Bonjour, Monsieur Satie by Tomie de Paola? Another neat telling of that rivalry..)

    Hi Tracy,
What a fun sounding idea for a party! Hope it goes well for the kids and you can use it for other little parties.
