The makings of a community mural

Check out the early phases of a mural that will be added to the courtyard/outdoor classroom at Hawkins Elementary School in Brighton. Former Brighton High School student and soon to be graduate, Hannah Riesser, asked for my assistance in adding a colorful, “Four Seasons” mural to her Girl Scout, Gold Award project. To learn more about Hannah, (who btw is a wonderful artist and former art student of mine,) and her project, follow this link to a recent article in the Livingston Daily.

As Hannah sketched the outlines for the mural in charcoal pencil this morning, I snapped a few photos. More photos to come of Hannah and the many children in Livingston County, grades kindergarten through twelve who will help paint the mural during this last week of school. I offered advice, as well as durable latex paints to get the mural underway. I definitely think Hannah has a bright future in store for herself!
