Gifts that Capture the Season

Whether you want to share some love with family living out of town this holiday season, or you need a gift to take with you to the party, local florists are a great choice!

Extravagance

We will guide you in selecting the perfect gift with questions such as, “centerpiece or tall vase arrangement?”, “rustic or polished?”, “traditional red & white or white & gold, blue & silver, etc.?”

Not only are floral arrangements a beautiful way to decorate the home or office for the season but at this time of the year, the evergreens make them wonderfully fragrant and long lasting.

In our studio, the gift options are as limitless as the designer’s imagination…wreaths, swags, mini trees and plant combinations provide a gift that keeps giving.

The Autumnal Shift

The days grow shorter, the air colder and the shift in seasons can be seen all around us in Michigan. I know I am among many who call this their favorite time of year.

fall_roadside
I had to stop to photograph this view while driving home last week!

In the florist’s world, the change in seasons also brings new materials, both fresh and dried that can be incorporated into our designs. And believe me, we love the chance to play with all of the textures and subtleties in color. Even the foliage is unique at this time of year!

white_pumpkin
Lush and textural centerpiece for Carrie & Brian’s reception on October 19th.

Lotus pods, cattails, wheat and dried grasses can add that fall touch to an arrangement.

cornucopia1
The addition of fruit to a table arrangement just feels right in the autumn.

ceramic_pumpkin
The long lasting nature of many of the flowers at this time of year is a huge bonus.

I also love when I am able to support a local flower farmer by purchasing their fresh product. I have three resources within the county who stop into the studio throughout the fall season with blooms and dried materials from their own land.

local_flowers
Local celosia, amaranth, zinnias and ageratum.

Carrie_bouquet
Carrie’s bouquet of pincushion protea, leucadendron, gerpoms, safflower, thistle and more!

Steph&bridesmaids
Stephanie and her attendants from October 2017.

Finally, there is the absolute pleasure of designing for the fall bride. It is just stunning when the theme of the wedding parallels the season and the bounty that is available!

Please take a look at our online store for pricing and more options that can be created at this time of year. www.artinbloomstudio.com

Oh, September…

…there are so many gorgeous flower choices and color combinations at this time of year, it makes my head spin!

Lynn_bouquet
Such a subtle fall color scheme- warm Sahara roses, burgundy dahlias and ranunculus, a touch of blue thistle, and succulents. Lynn’s bouquet from her September 15th wedding to Marcus.

I love the richness of combining deep burgundy and eggplant with lighter tones and eucalyptus foliage.

Lynn_Center1

Sunflowers seem to symbolize that transitional time between summer heat and the crispness of fall. They are one of those versatile and long lasting blooms that look as great in a bridal bouquet as they do in a table arrangement!

Sunflower_box_kate

There are more opportunities at this time of year to buy locally sourced product. Some of my favorites in September are zinnias, celosia and anything that will dry nicely- think pods, cattails and grasses!

As the colors changes outdoors, the use of foliage and textures becomes more important heading into the holiday season. I love incorporating berries and succulents into tablescapes, when possible.

Summer 2018 Weddings

hoops
Flower girl and bridesmaid’s hoops replaced the traditional bouquets for Mara & Devin’s July 3rd wedding.

It has been a busy summer wedding season and I have enjoyed working with each and every couple who have entrusted me with their florals!

mara_bouq
Mara asked for a bright pop of color and a “just picked” garden design for her bouquet.

A large floral hoop ceremony backdrop with french buckets brimming with colorful blooms for Mara & Devin, Indian Springs Metropark.

The trend toward outdoor ceremonies has made designing so much fun. There is such a feeling of success when the last touch is added and I can step back and take a few photos.

Emily’s bouquet in ivory, shades of lavender and a pop of green.

Maddee
Maddee’s requested a wildflower inspired bouquet with a focus on blue-green foliage.

Ashley
Ashley’s favorite flower is the peony. As the day went on, the blooms opened more and more.

Lauren’s hairpiece- ranunculus, spray rose buds and a touch of eucalyptus.

Melissa.jpg
Melissa requested a garden design for her wedding to Daniel at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and the snapdragons were added in memory of her grandmother and her gardens.

Jeanette1
Jeanette & Matt were married at Oak Pointe Country Club.

My assistants and I have created and set up two weddings per weekend since the end of May. We now have a couple weeks to regroup and refresh and then we’ll be back in full swing starting September 1st with more wonderful couples and gorgeous fall weddings! Please email me if you would like to check availability of a 2019 and 2020 wedding date. I would love to meet with you!
