Each bouquet we design is as unique as the bride who carries it!
I love finishing a bouquet with a special family item such as a handkerchief from Grandma.
It’s such a satisfying process to go from an initial consultation with a couple, getting a feel for their style, color scheme, etc. to ordering the freshest seasonal product and then bringing it all together with the creation of finished florals.
Jessica’s bouquet (5/21/16) of O’Hara garden roses, ranunculus, stock, dusty miller, astilbe and more.
Stacy’s bouquet in white, beige and hints of gold. I had fun finding this vase to complete the look at the reception.
Maureen selected succulents and Juliet garden roses for her bouquet in a rustic, barn setting.
Another great perk to designing wedding florals~ visiting so many unique and beautiful venues! Each location dictates a different tone for the ceremony and reception decor.
Maureen and Alek were married May 21st at a rustic setting in Howell, MI.
Stacy and Michael were married May 20th at The Gandy Dancer, Ann Arbor, MI.
Preeta and Bradley were married May 21st and held their reception on the outdoor patio at The Gandy Dancer.
Well, it’s post Mother’s Day and the store felt a bit cleaned out (which is always a good sign:)) so I went on a plant shopping spree to renew the energy and “green up” the space. We’ve been busy potting different combinations and displaying all of our oxygen producing friends. Let us know which one is perfect for you! 810-227-9500

As I prepare the studio for Prom Season each year, I always try to stay aware of the current trends in clothing, shoes, etc. This helps me understand which direction to head with the floral accents. I’ve noticed that the traditional gowns are getting a modern twist with more color, pattern and even a new two piece option this year. Not only am I seeing these online but several girls have already been in the shop to share their dresses as they begin shopping for their corsages and boutonnieres and I’m seeing the same look. Super adorable.
It got me wondering what other options I could offer to wear as a floral accent for prom. Think…floral jewelry (rings, earrings and necklaces) along with the traditionally accepted floral bracelet aka wrist corsage.
And how about a flower enhanced bag or purse to carry to the dance?
We have so many unique bands and gorgeous wire products available- a corsage on the wrist can look more like a “floral bracelet.”
And we can’t forget the guys! Here are a few of the new tux trends for 2016. Love the use of pattern, as well as the contrasting color on the lapels.
We typically design a boutonniere to coordinate with the color scheme that the date is wearing. Roses are the most often requested blooms but here are a few more unique offerings to consider, too.

Why give a corsage? It is an age old tradition that a small bouquet of flowers is presented to a date when going to a dance. At the start, these were either carried or pinned on to the bodice of a dress. As times changed, the idea of wearing the flowers on the wrist seemed more modern and almost like “floral jewelry.” Today, the floral trend has even moved as far as floral necklaces, rings and earrings thanks to Francoise Weeks‘ amazing work. 🙂
Over the past few years my favorite corsage has been the wrap bracelet. It fits almost any size wrist, stays in place nicely and comes in a variety of colors. I highly recommend this for high school age dance goers- seriously they are comfortable!
My favorite look for the younger dance goers, think, “Daddy Daughter Dance,” is a petite pearl bracelet band. These bracelets in the smaller size have made a world of difference in designing for tiny wrists. A bit of ribbon, a few small buds, filler and a bit of bling and these corsages are easy to wear and become a keepsake bracelet later.
And…another great option for a younger girl is a petite bouquet or nosegay to carry rather than wear. These can be matched to their outfit and finished with ribbons.
